Mylochromis sp."lateristriga nkhata" Nkhata Bay


Mylochromis sp."lateristriga nkhata" is living in sandy environments and in the intermediate zones from rocks to sand. It can be found on different places along the western coast between Nkhata Bay and Mlowe. These examples were found in the neighbourhood of Nkhata Bay.


In the lake the males of these species can grow to 16 cm, females to 11 cm. In the aquarium however they can grow a little taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 18 cm, females grow to about 13 cm.


Mylochromis sp."lateristriga nkhata" is living on invertebrates which they jig out of the sand. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix.


You can best keep this species with multiple females and other big species in a large tank with a lot of swimming space.
